What is the Night of the Refugee?

In the middle of the night, thousands of people participate in a 40-kilometer long sponsor walk in different provinces across the country. For example, there's a route from Rotterdam to The Hague, from Nijmegen to Arnhem, from Utrecht to Amersfoort, and from Amsterdam to Haarlem. It's a demanding but unforgettable experience. The starting signal sounds at exactly 12:00 midnight. On Saturday 15 June, there will also be earlier, shorter routes of 10 and 20 kilometers in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Special tenth edition

2019 will see the tenth edition of the Night of the Refugee. For this reason, there will be a one-off special edition of 40 kilometers. The route starts at midnight at Camp Westerbork in Hooghalen (Drenthe) and will run northwards to the city of Groningen. Why are we collaborating with the Camp Westerbork Memorial Center? Well, we'll be happy to explain.

Our goal?

To raise the highest possible amount for emergency aid to refugees and regionally displaced people, together with a group of thousands of people. For people fleeing from war, conflict, and oppression worldwide. In addition to raising money, with their participation, walkers positively raise awareness for refugees worldwide.
